For a while, Venus Williams had the fastest serve in women’s tennis — a fact that one unlucky U.S. Open ball boy will probably remember forever.

During Williams’ match against Greece’s Maria Sakkari on Friday, a mild disaster occurred. Williams hit a serve that Sakkari couldn’t reach, so the ball bounced and flew right up to the ball boy.

Emphasis on the “ball.”

He’s lucky it had already bounced, to be honest. Still, credit where credit is due — this consummate professional didn’t even drop the tennis ball!

Congratulations, kid. We are very sorry about your public injury.
