Prank calls may be a low form of humour, but there’s no doubt they’re entertaining. Especially when the caller is Justin Roiland, the co-creator and voice actor of Rick and Morty. Especially when he’s calling Joel Osteen’s prayer hotline.
You may remember Joel Osteen from when his mega-church in Houston closed its doors to the public during hurricane Harvey. Terrific guy. See below for developments on that…
Roiland calls as his animated persona Rick Sanchez, minus the belching, obscenity, and contempt for humanity that normally characterises Rick’s unique brand of lovable misanthropy. His primary aim seems to be to work out exactly how a prayer line works, his secondary being to entertain the woman answering the phone. He succeeds in one of these.
Osteen is one of America’s wealthiest preachers, and thanks to Roiland’s sampling of premium services such as the prayer hotline, it’s not hard to see why.
