It was a Netflix party at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night, as the youthful cast of 13 Reasons Why presented the award for Show of the Year to the even more youthful cast of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things beat out Game of Thrones, Atlanta, Insecure, Pretty Little Liars and This Is Us for the prize.
This is the first time the Show of the Year award has been handed out at the ceremony, which previously only recognized movie nominees.
Show of the Year had top billing during the telecast as the final gong of the evening, and was described as the “biggest award of the night,” further cementing the dominance of TV over film — at least for the MTV crowd. (The clue is probably in the network’s name.)
Earlier in the night, Millie Bobby Brown scooped the Best Actor in a Show award, beating the likes of Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Gina Rodriguez, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Mandy Moore.
