Mary Poppins is back in the most delightful way. The rebooted sequel starring Emily Blunt won’t release until next year but a first glimpse of Blunt in costume evokes the charm and mystery of the original.
Directed by Rob Marshall, Mary Poppins Returns takes place years after the events of the original film, with Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) now grown up. After Michael suffers a personal loss, Mary comes back into his life, bringing with her a host of new characters, including Topsy (Meryl Streep) and Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda). Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury, who played Bert and Mrs. Banks in the original, will return for the sequel.
The Mary Poppins sequel is really sneaking up on OCEAN’S EIGHT as the 2018 film with the best cast

What if, Michael Banks sings about Mary Poppins to introduce his children to her? There’s so much potential in this project I’m too excited

Mary Poppins Returns is currently filming but don’t rule out a teaser accompanying the March 17 release of Beauty and the Beast.
