Happy, sad, surprised, confused, bemused, disgusted, forlorn, angry — go ahead and express them all, as there is no emotion that doesn’t instantly apply to MTV’s new Movie & TV Awards category: trending.

That’s it. “Trending.” MTV announced Tuesday that it would be adding the category ahead of Sunday’s ceremony. 

If you need further explanation as to what constitutes “trending,” just look at these nominees:

MTV also added “Best Musical Moment,” an equally sprawling category that yielded a wealth of diverse nominees:
